Disney Awarded a Patent That Could Help Them Track Guests Throughout the Parks by Photographing Their Shoes

Yes, seriously. I find this pretty interesting. Disney applied for a patent in 2015, which was just awarded to them, to track guests around the park by secretly photographing their footwear. It looks like there would be scanners meticulously hidden around the park so that guests do not notice them. This looks like it could be a very interesting way to personalize a guests experience.

Zootopia, Movie, Review, Spoiler-Free

I just recently saw Zootopia, because I heard some great reviews about it, and those reviews were not wrong. This movie was amazing. the movies centers around a rabbit who wants to become a cop, but most cops are the big predator animals. she is assigned to be a parking maid, but then she begs for a better position. So the chief assigns her a missing person case. Then the movies is a crazy ride, with investigations, fights, and traveling from place to place. this movies has great characters, and a strong story with amazing voice acting. the references are funny, but subtle. The animation of one of modern Disney´s best, and shows what they are capable of. I never usually do this, but I am giving this move a 10/10 for its beautiful animation, strong story, and great characters. I recommend this film to anyone, but mostly for young adults and grown adults, for its deep meanings and themes. I also recommend children, because they will like all the different animals. This film is an absolute must for anyone and everyone.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Movie, Review

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a movie Directed by Robert Zemeckis and Steven Speilberg. Before I start, this movie is one of my personal favorites, and is somewhat underrated. The movie is a murder mystery in Hollywood in 1947, only cartoon characters are alive and they live alongside humans. The main story is that a cartoon star Roger Rabbit was framed for the murder of ToonTown´s Mayor, Marvin Acme. the reason he is framed is because his boss, R.K. Maroon, assigns detective Eddie Valiant a job to take pictures of Rogers wife, Jessica Rabbit, in a scandal with Marvin Acme. So the rabbit gets angry over the pictures and runs out of Maroons office, when he unassumingly drops a safe on Acme. But it turns out that Roger did not in fact kill Acme. So it was up to Eddie Valiant and Roger to find the real killer and clear his name. This movie is a mix of live action and animation, and they are blended so well in this movie, its almost like the toons are real. It is also the first and only time you can see Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny at the same time. The story is entertaining, thought provoking, and has a few plot twists. the actors make a great performance, and they are very interesting set of characters. I give this movie an 8/10. If you like cartoons or Hollywood in its ¨golden ages¨ I recommend this movie to you.

The Giver, Movie, Review

Before I start, I want to say that The Giver Book was Phenomenal, it had so much depth within it and amazing themes, showcasing what a "perfect society" would look like. On the other hand, the movie was bland, boring and a snooze-fest. There was some instances that were not even in the book, for instance, the awkward forced relationship between Jonas and Fiona, which just felt forced and uncomfortable. There was some new real estate for the Giver, on the edge of a cliff, when his real building was in the community. The actors looked as bored of the film as the audience, especially Jonas. Asher was a terrible mess and unfaithful to the book, I hated Asher in the film but liked him in the book. The one character that they got right was the Giver. he was amazing. He was faithful to the book, amazingly played out by Jeff Bridges, and just fun and entertaining to watch. Overall, If you have read the book, you should give the movie a try. maybe you will have a different reaction. As for anyone else it is an absolute don't watch it. You will have no idea whats going on, and will be bored halfway through. Overall I give this movie a 4/10. Not so good for a movie based on an 8/10 book.

Too Big To Fail, Movie, Review

Too Big To Fail is a movie produced by HBO. The movie follows the 2008 Financial Crisis, but through a unique point of view. The movie is through the eyes of the Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Paulson. Originally, I thought the movie would be a documentary style film, but really, all the characters are represented by actors and there are no fourth wall breaks. Overall I would say that I enjoyed the movie. At times, it definitely felt boring, but I don't know what I would expect from a non-documentary film that is covering the Financial Crisis of 2008. I would recommend the movie, especially because of it's short length. This is an HBO Original Film, so it is only available on HBO or Amazon Instant Video. I would not have paid for this movie, but I was able to watch it for free with my Amazon Prime subscription. Would I recommend watching this film, but only if you have the time, and assuming you do not have to pay for it separately.

The Giver by Lois Lowry, Book, Review

The Giver is a relatively short novel. I went into it with low expectations because of what I heard from others, but once I finished it, I loved it.

Story:
The Giver takes place in something called a "Community." A Community is a very strange, socialist style, utopia. Everything is free, nobody gets hurt, everyone knows each other, and everybody does their job to ensure the good function of the Community. People are "birthed," given to a "family unit," and grow up. At twelve years of age, they are assigned their job to help the community. Around twelve years, everyone takes "the pill," the pill is taken after an individual's first "stirring." Stirrings have a strange mystique surrounding them but seem to be some sort of feelings of love or affection. The novel follows Jonas, at the ceremony of twelves. Jonas receives a unique job assignment, the receiver of memories. Jonas trains and receives the memories of the community, but he realizes that things used to be different. People used to be able to make their own decisions and that has changed.

Enjoyability:
I thoroughly enjoyed The Giver and would happily read it again. The book is short enough to not get bored with the story, but it is long enough to connect with the characters. At times in the book, particularly towards the end, I felt very anxious, but in a good way. I was scared for the characters, sitting on the edge of my seat, reading. Skipping over sentences to get to the end more quickly and when I got there, I wish I had not actually finished the story, but in a good way. I definitely enjoyed every part of The Giver and wish I could feel the same way I did reading it the first time, reading it the second time.

Availability:
The Giver is actually available online, completely free. There are a bunch of read aloud and audio versions of it on YouTube. If you have don't have the time to read it, you will get the same experience listening to it, maybe even a better one.

Age Range:
I feel as if The Giver would be suitable and understandable for anybody over ten years of age, Younger than that, many important concepts may not be received and subtle messages may not be recognized.

Message:
The message of The Giver is a complex one and it can not be dived into without spoiling important elements of the book, but it has to do with everybody being different. Difference is a good thing and should be kept, forever. It could also be interpreted as be careful of power because the wrong person in power could mean disaster and big, negative, consequences.

Recommendation:
If you have the time, read this book. If you don't have the time, listen to this book. You will not regret reading The Giver and its elements and messages will stick with you for a long time.
